Alba Hurup Larsen Satisfied with Formula 4 Debut in India
Strong performance by the 15-year-old racing talent, who finished in the top 10 in the final heat after a promising debut in the Indian Formula 4 Championship held at Madras International Circuit.
It was a successful start to the Formula 4 career for Danish Alba Hurup Larsen, who finished in 10th place in the final heat of the first round of the F4 Indian Championship, held at Madras International Circuit this past weekend. The 15-year-old racing talent thus demonstrated her skills in a field with 15 other junior talents.
"It’s been an awesome and educational week! Fantastic feeling to finally get started and complete my first Formula 4 weekend, even with results that I can be proud of," says Alba Hurup Larsen.
The Dane, who competed for the Indian team Speed Demons Delhi, started well already during the practice sessions for the weekend’s three races, where she finished fifth in her best session. Hurup Larsen was also fast in the qualifying sessions, where she achieved an eighth place in her best attempt.
In the first race, Hurup Larsen got off to a good start but was subsequently penalized with a pit lane drive-through for an unfortunate maneuver on the grid before the race started. This, however, did not dampen the Dane’s spirit, as she then impressed by setting the fourth-fastest lap time of the race.
The second race ended in 11th place, while Alba Hurup Larsen secured her best result in the final heat. Here, the Dane started from 11th place and did not have the optimal start, which immediately cost positions. However, the speed quickly showed again, and after some solid overtakes, the weekend ended with a solid 10th place.
"There are a lot of things that we need to adjust, but I expected that. The important thing is that I’ve shown good pace, and I look forward to getting revenge for the mistakes that have been made this weekend. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my Formula 4 debut. I can't thank the team behind me, my engineer, and my management enough for what we have already achieved," says Alba Hurup Larsen.
The next task for Alba Hurup Larsen and the rest of Speed Demons Delhi is the second round of the F4 Indian Championship, which will take place on the Chennai Formula Racing Circuit street circuit already next weekend, from August 30 to September 1.
