Øgaard Embarks on Full GTWC Campaign with Tresor Attempto Racing

The 21-year-old Dane is swapping Aston Martin for Audi and will compete in a full season of the GT World Challenge Europe. The first round kicks off this week.

After a learning year in the GT World Challenge, Sebastian Øgaard is now taking the next step with a full championship campaign in the fiercely competitive GT3 series. Last year, the 21-year-old racing driver competed in the Endurance Cup championship for the Aston Martin team Comtoyou Racing. This year, the Dane will contest both the Sprint and Endurance series – a total of 10 races – with Audi team Tresor Attempto Racing.

The switch means both a new car and new teammates for Øgaard, who will share his Audi R8 GT3 with Italian driver Leonardo Moncini. The duo will make their debut this coming weekend as the GT World Challenge Europe gets underway with a six-hour race at France’s Paul Ricard circuit. Joining Øgaard and Moncini as the third driver is Italian Riccardo Cazzaniga.

– I’m really happy with my new deal, which came together thanks to my management agency, 5P Management. I’ve landed in a strong team that has welcomed me warmly and has close ties to Audi Sport. That, combined with a packed calendar, makes me excited to get the season started, says Sebastian Øgaard.

– 2024 was a learning year for me in the GT World Challenge. I came straight from formula racing and had a lot to learn – not just about the GT car, but also about race format, pit stops, strategy, and so on. I’m much wiser now than I was last year and can focus more on performance. At the same time, I’ll be racing more often since I’m doing both the Sprint and Endurance championships, so I’m quite excited, he adds.

– We’ve prepared for the season opener with tests at both Paul Ricard and Monza, and I think both went well. I quickly felt comfortable in our Audi R8 GT3, which suits my driving style, so now I’m just looking forward to getting started.

The first round of the GT World Challenge takes place this coming weekend at Circuit Paul Ricard in southern France. Øgaard, Moncini, and Cazzaniga will compete in the Gold class, where they will face seven other factory-supported teams. The six-hour race goes green on Saturday, April 12, at 6:00 PM.
