ELMS: Conrad Laursen finished sixth at Spa-Francorchamps

The championship remains wide open for the Danish Ferrari driver, who fought his way up the order in an action-packed fourth round of the European Le Mans Series at Spa-Francorchamps.

Conrad Laursen, Davide Rigon and Charles-Henri Samani secured a solid, points-paying sixth place in the fourth round of this year’s European Le Mans Series, held on Sunday at Spa-Francorchamps. The AF Corse trio managed an impressive recovery after Saturday’s wet and challenging qualifying session, where Samani struggled for grip and had to settle for a starting position outside the top 10.

“Really good comeback by the team, I’d say. We were actually on course for fourth place but were unfortunately a bit unlucky with a full course yellow towards the end of the race, which cost us a couple of positions. As so often before, it was a wild race with plenty of crashes and safety cars, but we managed to navigate through without damage or mistakes,” said Conrad Laursen.

“It’s a tight fight for the title, and we’re still in contention, so we are fully focused on the next race and looking forward to returning to the battle at Silverstone,” said Conrad Laursen.

With four different winners from the first four rounds of this year’s European Le Mans Series, the LMGT3 points are spread across a remarkably close field. Laursen, Rigon and Samani currently hold fifth place in the standings, but with only six points separating them from the leaders – and 25 points available per round – the championship remains wide open with two rounds to go.

The fifth round of the European Le Mans Series takes place on 14 September at Britain’s Silverstone Circuit. However, Conrad Laursen will already be back in action the coming weekend for the fourth round of the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup at Germany’s Nürburgring.
